Lagos - The Navy plans to showcase its first home-made warship at next year's annual Nigerian Maritime Exposition (NIMAREX).
According to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba,
the Navy would book a stand at NIMAREX 2014 scheduled for Abuja where it
would exhibit a number of products and services of the Nigerian Naval
Dockyard (NND) including the home-made vessel.
The Navy chief explained that that vessel had been subjected and scored highly in hardy sea trials.
He also noted that a bigger warship was currently under construction at the NND.
Ezeoba
said the Navy would be making a big showing at NIMAREX 2014,
considering the success of the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) meet it
hosted earlier this year in Lagos.
He noted that Nigeria’s
hosting of the OPV had recorded much higher attendance than previous
editions of the global event in other countries, and has, according to
him, become a reference point for others, including one that Ghana is
organising.
Ezeoba assured the NIMAREX 2014 Planning Committee of the Navy’s unstinting support towards a successful outing.
NIMAREX
is an annual international expo and conference conceptualized to be the
meeting point for players in the maritime industry in West Africa.
